Food Wars Conventional vs Free Range Eggs

Are Free Range Eggs Worth The Extra Cost?

It’s my favorite time of the week. FOOD WARS time! Why do I love this segment so much? Because it gets to the truth about which foods will help you get closer to your health goals and which will take you further away.

Unfortunately in today’s world, you just can’t trust what the colorful print on the food packaging says.

So you should ask yourself, why should I trust you Brad? Because look at me…I’m not a local farmer…I’m not profiting from you buying real whole foods.

It’s my goal to to help you become another Transformation 10,000 success story. I’m in it for the karma (and the occasional book sale)!

So lets get down to it.

Are Free Range Eggs worth the additional cost?

That’s what I’m covering on today’s video episode of Food Wars!

If I want you to take one thing away from the above video, it is this…

Healthier animals produce healthier foods!

There is a big difference in the health benefits of consuming free range eggs vs. conventional caged eggs.

Free range chickens are free to roam around and eat grass and forage like mother nature intended it. This means the eggs are fully loaded with vitamins, minerals, and a healthier ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids (closer to 2:1).

Caged chickens are mass produced in cramped settings. They’re fed unnatural grains which affects the health of the animal. This causes the chickens to produce eggs with an unhealthier ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids. This adds to the already out of whack omega 6 to 3 ratios most people have today (when consumed in excess, omega 6s can cause inflammation in the body).  Of course these conventional eggs also contain lower amounts of vitamins and minerals.

So the answer is obvious…consume FREE RANGE EGGS.

It’s worth the extra cost. Look at it as an INVESTMENT in your LONG-TERM HEALTH.

But…if you really can’t afford them…still stick with conventional eggs. They are much better for you than cereal!

  1. The Cornucopia Institute has a scorecard out that can help you find the real free range eggs. A lot of the big, corporate associated organic farms don’t actually give the birds much or any outdoor access even though the eggs may be labeled free range organic. You have to investigate where your eggs are really coming from.

I love this, and think it’s SO IMPORTANT for people to understand where their food is coming from. My chickens make the BEST eggs because they’re happy and healthy. Great Food Wars!
